Hiking the Awaawapuhi. After 3.5 miles and a 1500 foot drop, hikers are rewarded with views of valleys below.
The drops are sharp and unforgiving. (d)

A sailboat along the Napali coastline. (d)

We hiked two miles into the Napali coastline, to arrive at a hidden beach called Hanakapi'ai, normally accessible only by foot. (d)

Enjoying Hanakapi'ai beach. (d)

Napali is known for its wandering residents who leave behind humankind's problems
as they seek a quiet nomadic existence along this eden-like coastline.
Every so often the park service kicks them out. There's an estimated 70-100 folks living
in Napali at the time of this writing. (d)

It's a slow two miles though, hiking through muddy & slippery terrain.
Don't bring your favorite white sneakers on this hike. (d)

If you were to hike the full 11 mile Kalalau Trail, you would reach the final destination, Kalalau Beach.
This picture was taken from a boat (we did not hike the full distance).
Note the tent, perched near the waterfall. (d)

Another view of Napali's rugged coastline. (d)
